I focus on the needs of each client and will give an assessment as to duration of their treatment.
I use a client centred philosophy whilst at the same time incorporating a solution focused approach and where needed will employ Cognitive Behavioural and Rational Emotive Behaviour counselling.
I have a strong passion for assisting clients in their daily lives and will employ those methods within my scope of practice which I believe will best suit the client.
Once assessed if it is found that the client would best be served by other professional categories, I will make such recommendations and by so doing saving time in getting you, the clients to the correct category for assistance.
The registered counsellor category was introduced by the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) to assist the public in a bid to make certain psychological services more accessible.
The requirements of a registered counsellor state they need to have their Honours qualification in addition to the compulsory internship. After completion of this, all students must sit and obtain a minimum of 70% of the HPCSA Board exam before being allowed to practice.
Only at this point are the candidates given their registration numbers with the proviso of ongoing continued education which is audited on a regular basis.
I’ll take these Ethical requirements as being paramount in my duties as a Health professional. There can be no compromise from these standards.
